Tomorrow's game and Memorial Day
by posted 05/14/2021

Just a reminder that our game is at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, at Alpine Field in Wayland. Please arrive by 10:30 a.m. This team barely beat us in our opener so we will want to play strong. It will be HOT!! Please bring extra water.

Also, we are scheduled to play a home again against Arlington Saturday May 29 at 11:45 a.m. Could parents please let me know if your player will be available. I know that some club players have tournaments that weekend, and other players may be away or have plans. If we don't have enough players I will need to postpone the game, so it will be helpful to know as soon as possible.

Finally, I will work to reschedule a game with Foxboro that was rained out last month, hopefully for an upcoming Tuesday time where we would normally practice.

See you tomorrow. Go United.

A Gift for Madison
by posted 05/07/2021

Our team is well named. Over the time that we have played together, this group has become increasingly close knit. The players care for each other and support one another.

As some of you may know, one of our players, Madison Marcell, had a significant surgery this week. Her mom, Jamie, tells me the surgery went well, and they are hoping to get Madison home Saturday. That is great news. Madison won't be able to play in the remaining games this season, but she will come to watch when she is up for it.

In the meantime, with help from Tehya's mom Erica, we wanted to ask if the United girls would write cards to Madison wishing her a speedy recovery and also take up a small collection to buy Madison a gift. If you would like to donate $5 please have your player bring it to the game Saturday or to practice next week. And if United players could write a card for Madison, we will send them home with Tehya, and Erica will include the cards in a gift basket for Madison.

Thanks to all, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game. The game is at 10:30 a.m., so please arrive in Northborough (a bit of a haul) at 10 a.m.

Go United!

United Practice Schedule
by posted 03/28/2021

Hello United,

We had a good first session on the CHS turf Saturday in perfect weather. Also a really strongt turnout. We expected more rust than we actually saw, and for the most part the play was crisp. Thanks to all the girls who were able to make it.

I am emailing to let you know the practice schedule. I've set it up to accommodate as many players as possible, given various conflicts.

We will practice Tuesdays from 5 p.m.  to 6:10 p.m. and Wednesdays, normally from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Importantly, we have two different practice fields this season.

Tuesday at 5 p.m. will be at the Pequitside lower field, which is the 9 v. 9 field that we had games on last fall.

On Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. we will practice on Galvin Lower, Field B

It's been tricky this year (I happen to be the league's field scheduler) because we have access to fewer fields and the league is working in two practice shifts to ensure there is enough room for all the teams. COVD rules require that there be 20 minutes between sessions, so we need to finish our 5 p.m. sessions at 6:10 p.m. The 6:30 p.m. sessions will normally go to 7:45 p.m., but for the first two weeks we will end practice at 7:30 p.m. on account of darkness.

Also, the league president has indicated with today's rain there may be some question as to when the fields will be in condition to start practice. I am at this point expecting we will practice this Tuesday, March 30 at 5 p.m. at Pequitside Lower, but will let you know if anything changes.

You can log into, and under TEAMS make your way to Girls Grade 5 United and click on schedule if you want to take a look.

Please remember to make sure players have balls and plenty of air in those balls. Also, if you still have the red, blue and yellow-ish green pinnies from last year, if those could stay in their bags that would be great.

Looking forward to a strong season of practice and a fun season together.
