Note to Parents

Listed below are comments and answers to the most commonly asked questions.

 

Parental Code of Conduct:

I will:
1. Be encouraging, supportive, & affirmative in regard to my child's play on the field
2. Respect officials & accept their decisions
3. Support the coach, manager, the team & the club
4. Volunteer my services & talents to the team and the club when possible
5. Familiarize myself with the laws of the game
6. Comply with rules, policies, & procedures of the team & club as they apply to me
7. Discuss my child

- Only with the coach
- Not with the manager or any other person
- Only at a time when mutually agreed upon with the coach
- Never prior to, during or directly after a game

 
Proper Arrival times For Games
Your cooperation with pre-game arrival facilitates a timely start to games and clinics and makes it
possible for your child's coach to organize and prepare the team for the game or clinic session.

LEVEL ARRIVAL TIME
In-town (U6 – U8) 15 minutes before practice
BAYS Travel (U9 – U14) 30 minutes before posted game time
 
Game Cancellation
Games are played - rain or shine (unless there is threat of thunder on the playing field or fields are unplayable).
If you are in doubt whether a games is played or cancelled, please contact the Rain Line (781-989-2050).
 
Zero Tolerance
The following rules apply to everyone. You are NOT allowed to:

Engage in dissent directed toward an official

Engage in any kind or type or unsportsmanlike conduct with any
official, coach, player, or parent
3
Interfere at any time with the duties and responsibilities of the coach or manager
4
Act in any manner which is detrimental to the team or the ASC

Parents can and will be asked to remove themselves from the field if they are heard to berate a
referee, coach, manager, players, or any member or guest of a visiting team.
 
About Practices
The following table outlines practice interval and times:

Age Group Practice Frequency
In-town (U6-U8 Players) 90 minutes session; 45 minute practice & a 45 minute game
BAYS U9-14 Players Up to 2 practice per week, maximum 1.5 hours per session
 
About Jewelry
FIFA Rules specifies the following Safety Rule concerning Jewelry:
A player must not use equipment or wear anything which is dangerous to himself or another player
(including any kind of jewelry).


NCAA is more specific: Jewelry

SECTION 6. A player shall not wear any jewelry, including earrings, chains, charms, watches, hair clips,
bobby pins, tongue studs or items associated with piercing (visible or not visible). Exception: Medical
alert bracelets or necklaces may be worn but must be taped to the body.

RULE 4-4/PLAYERS’ EQUIPMENT

PENALTY—If the referee considers any article liable to cause injury to another player, including head,
face or body protective equipment, the referee shall signal the clock to be stopped and instruct the
player to leave the field of play and remove the illegal article. Any player not conforming to Sections 1
through 6 shall not be permitted to play. After being instructed to leave the field, providing he/she has
not been substituted for, a player shall not reenter the game without first reporting to the referee, who
shall be satisfied that the player’s uniform, shoes and equipment are in order.
