Canton Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) provides over 800 boys & girls between the ages of 5 through 14 an opportunity to play organized soccer every spring and fall in the town of Canton.
I understand that being a youth coach is first and foremost, a teacher and role model. I will teach my players basic skills, techniques and strategies, and will give all my players the opportunity to improve their skills, gain confidence and develop self-esteem at practices and in games.
I will learn and know the rules of the game and the league in which my team competes.
I will adhere to the BAYS Zero Tolerance Policy.
I will balance team preparation/play against safety/health risks such as practicing in inclement weather, or playing/practicing when injured without the direct consent of a health professional.
If my team leads by a wide margin, I will make every effort to prevent the differential from increasing. Suggestions include playing players out of position, requiring players to use non-dominant foot only, allowing only long distant shots, playing 2 or 3 touch only, requiring all players to touch/pass the ball prior to shooting or playing a player short. Use discretion in implementing these measures; the goal is not to show up the opposing team.
I will never place the value of winning over the safety and welfare of the players.
I will display respect and professionalism to all involved with soccer. This includes but is not limited to: opponents, coaches, officials, administrators, the media, parents and spectators. I will encourage my players to do the same.
I will maintain control of my emotions and avoid actions, language, and/or gestures that may be interpreted as hostile or humiliating.
I acknowledge that this Code of Conduct has been adopted by CYSA and agree that if I fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, I will be subject to disciplinary action by CYSA that could include without progressive steps, but is not limited to the following:
- Warning
- Probation
- Game(s) Suspension
- Removal from program
In the event a situation rises which calls for interpretation, CYSA will take into account the best interest of each athlete, the entire team, the CYSA club and the integrity of the game. Participation in CYSA as a coach is voluntary and as such it is the CYSA board’s right to determine who is considered eligible to participate in a coaching capacity. The CYSA board decision will be final.
