In-Town Soccer (Prek - 2nd Grade)

Description

In-Town soccer is fun, small-sided, team-oriented soccer for younger players attending Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Grades K through 2 in soccer years are known as U6 through U8. CYSA’s policy is for non-results oriented play at the in-town level. We do not encourage coaches to keep score during the games nor do we keep standings at the in-town level. The emphasis is on participation, skill development, and most importantly, having fun. CYSA believes a positive, up-beat environment is most conducive to your child having fun and developing a long-term interest in the game of soccer. We encourage all parents to allow their children to play without pressure, to let their child play freely in scrimmages with instruction only from their coaches, and to cheer for both teams.

All players who register for In-Town will be placed on a team.  In-Town players are placed on teams that meet each weekend during the season.  The sessions run for between 75 and 90 minutes, varying by age group.  The sessions start with a warm up and practice followed by games with other In-Town teams.  The teams train as a unit and are coached by volunteer coaches.  Professional coaches, acting as Coach Mentors, are present at each session to conduct activities and to assist the volunteer coaches with the session.

Team Formation

CYSA forms in-town teams with the goal of balancing gender along with consideration for the school your child attends. The CYSA attempts to place every in-town player who was registered on-time onto a team with some schoolmates. However, we limit team roster sizes at all age levels with the intent of maximizing the actual playing experience for all players. CYSA does its best to fulfill any “buddy requests” but can not guarantee that all requests are met.

Equipment

All In-Town players will receive a T-shirt with their registration. You do not need to purchase any uniform items through the CYSA. All shirts will be handed out by coaches at the first session. It is also necessary for your child to wear shin guards for all sessions. This is a mandatory CYSA and MA Youth Soccer rule, no exceptions!!! It is strongly recommended but not mandatory that soccer cleats are worn.  The fields are sometimes very slick with morning dew which can cause a child to slip and possibly hurt themselves.  All players should purchase and bring to each session a size 3 soccer ball.

Coaches

CYSA is run entirely by volunteer parents. Please volunteer to help make this a great experience for your child!
