Greetings Team Ertz,
This is Greg Gatlin, the assistant coach for Team Ertz and Elli Gatlin's dad. I will be assisting Coach Rich Dopazo this season. First, I'm sorry I missed last week's practice. I look forward to seeing the girls today and meeting some that I don't know. I also wanted to let you know that I will have some conflicts this season, as I am also the head coach for the sixth grade girls United team, and some of the game times conflict. I will try to be at most practices, however, and as many of the games as I can.
As you know, we are practicing this afternoon, Friday, from 5:15 -6:30 p.m. at our normal practice field, which is at the JFK school. We have a good session plan. Please remember to have the players bring a soccer ball and water.
Saturday, Sept. 11, will be our first game. The game is at our normal home field, which is Pequitside Upper, 7v.7 field. It starts at 9 a.m., but players should always arrive half an hour early for warm ups. So we will see you at Pequitside Upper bright and early at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. We are playing another Canton team.
I am attaching a link to the season's schedule. Our games are listed under Coach Dopazo's last name.
We will update the Canton Youth Soccer website with that game schedule as well. For those not familiar, you can look at schedules by going to cantonyouthsoccer.com, and clicking on the TEAMS drop down menu. From their click on CHOOSE A TEAM; TRAVEL; LOCAL TRAVEL GRADE 3: and GIRLS GRADE 3 ERTZ. You will also see team messages like this one.
We are named, by the way, for U.S. Women's National Team star Julie Ertz (who happens to be married to Zach Ertz, tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL - fun fact).
I am looking forward to helping Coach Dopazo in any way I can and to meeting all of you and having a productive and fun season with Team Ertz.
