Good morning United,
I am excited about our first game tomorrow, Saturday. We are home on the Pequitside lower field, at 11:45 a.m. against the Wayland Tigers. Please arrive by 11:15 a.m. for warmups.
Weather is supposed to be great, and nearly 70 degrees by game time, so please have your players hydrate in the morning and bring plenty of water. We may only have four or five substitutes, so the girls will have to play strong for longer periods of time.
Please do let me know if your player cannot make it to the game so we can adjust the lineups accordingly. Some of you have already done that, so thank you. Also, when possible, I would ask parents to let me or the other coaches know if your daughter cannot attend a practice. We will fully understand, but knowing who will or won't attend helps us with drill planning. Our practices have gotten off to a strong start, and the girls are bringing a wonderful sense of enthusiasm and desire to play and improve.
The league has sent coaches a message on COVID protocols, some of which I will share below. Bottom line, while a few things have eased, many protocols remain in place and need to be followed by players, coaches and spectators. They include:
- Masks - masks are to be worn at all times while at the field, be it on the spectators on the sidelines or the players / coaches on the field. Players will be allowed to remove their masks briefly when socially distanced to get a drink.
- Social distancing - On the field, players will social distance as best possible within the games. On the sidelines all spectators are to be socially distanced (6ft) at all times.
- Family members - In the Fall, protocol was slightly stricter and only allowed 1 parent / guardian per player. This season we still encourage to keep numbers low but if multiple members of the same family arrive they are to sit together and remain socially distanced from others. If siblings or other children are at the field (not playing soccer) they are to be with the parents / guardians at all times.
Again, thanks to the parents for all you are doing to support your players and United. We are looking forward to our first game, and a strong season.
Go United!
